Q&A

What happens during a dietetic appointment?

During our initial appointment, we will discuss what you would like to get out of seeing a dietitian. I will ask you about your medical history, any symptoms you are having, medications, weight and height (if appropriate), previous blood results, dietary intake, exercise history and general information about yourself. We will then discuss your goals and begin to work on your dietetic plan. During reviews, we will discuss how you have been getting on with the plan and adjust accordingly. If appropriate, we will build on your knowledge about nutrition in order to give you the skills and confidence to eat the right diet for you.

Will my health insurance cover dietitian services?

Most insurance companies will cover all or some of the costs of seeing a dietitian. I will provide you with receipts in order to apply for reimbursement.

How many appointments will I need?

This depends from person to person. I can give you my recommendations and we will agree together how many reviews we think are needed and how often we will see each other.

How much do appointments cost?

The initial assessment lasts an hour and costs €100.
Review appointments last either 1 hour which costs €90 or half an hour which costs €50.

Will you need to contact my GP?

This depends from person to person. Sometimes it will be necessary for contact between myself and your GP and/or other healthcare professionals. This is especially true for patients with eating disorders, whom I always recommend see a therapist alongside myself.
