Dietitian Carole Kealy, specialises in eating disorders, intuitive eating, relationship with food

About Carole

I qualified as a dietitian from London Metropolitan University in 2013 and have since worked in hospitals, residential settings, outpatient clinics and a dialysis clinic. I’ve always had an interest in nutrition and how it relates to health. As I’ve gained experience working as a dietitian, I’ve realised how important having a healthy relationship with food is when it comes to eating well and feeling well.

There is so much information about what we should be eating - so many experts and articles telling us how to restrict calories or whether we're getting enough protein or instructing us to intermittent fast or go on the keto diet. What’s sometimes lacking is an appreciation of how important it is to listen to what our bodies are telling us they need.

It’s not just your knowledge about nutrition which is important, but also how you feel about food generally and how that relates to how you feel about yourself, your body and your health.

I have experience working with patients with various dietary needs (such as people with eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, IBS and other gastrointestinal issues, etc). I work with people to help them adapt their diet to suit their needs in ways that are practical for them. Now based in Ireland, but also doing some travelling around Europe, I run my own online nutrition and dietetic clinic where I get to  work with people with various dietetic needs and do the work that I love.
